Alan has been in the Plumbing Industry for 36 years. 26 of which have been with TAFE NSW.
He has taught in 7 different colleges both in the City and country areas and has worked in every position in the Plumbing Educational section of TAFE. He is currently responsible for all Training Programs in that area.
In the years 1986, 87 and 88 Alan was "loaned" to the Work Skill Australia Foundation. This involved organising skill competitions for 42 trades in 30 regions around Australia, culminating in the 'Skill Olympics' which was held in Feb 1988.
He still maintains an interest in this organisation as a member of the Sydney Regional Committee and as part of that commitment has represented Australia twice as an international judge in the Plumbing area.
His post school educational commenced with the Plumbing Trade then progressing to the licensing level. The next 7 years were spent doing a part time Health and Building Inspectors Certificate then being employed as a teacher, completed his diploma of teaching followed by a degree in education.
Other studies that Alan has undertaken are LPGas, Advanced Gasfitting, Thermostatic Mixing Valves and Fine Arts Painting.
Alan was the NSW Chapter President of the Institute of Plumbing. A member and past president of The Guild of Health Science Teachers and a Teacher member of the Master Plumbers Association.
